Langdon School students Katie Murphy, Gurpreet Virdee, Sutveer Kaur and Alex Loukos (left to right here) are four of the thirty young East Londoners who joined the delegation team for the final stage of London's bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. These Young Ambassadors represented both the communities that would benefit most from London 2012 and London's ambition to inspire young people. Murphy went on to work with Olympic suppliers in London Docklands , Virdee is a university student. Kaur worked for LOCOG as a Starting Blocks trainee. Loukos, now a design project manager, was inspired by his grandfather to take up boxing at Langdon School. He was the second person to receive the Olympic Torch in Olympia.
'There were thirty of us, but we were representing all young Londoners. It was quite a responsibility.' Alex Loukos 2009
