Set in London 1911, the Coronation of George V gives the context to the film's plot: The visiting Prince Regent of Carpathia wishes to seduce the actress Elsie who he sees perform in The Coconut Girl. Overhearing the Prince's son King Nicolas's treasonous plot, Elsie becomes vital in settling differences in the fictional Balkan state of Carpathia and between father and son, causing the Prince Regent to fall in love with her. Spenser played King Nicolas.
