Amongst the common ancestors of this lovely couple is one Thomas Fairfax, The man who followed the Earls of Essex by leading the Parliamentary Army to Victory against King Charles I. The title 'Earl of Cambridge' was once owned by the Duke of Hamilton who, in common with King Charles I and in the service of King Charles I, Lost his head.
Prince Charles may be relieved to note that Fairfax would have nothing to do with the execution of his namesake, but, if he were to become King, he should avoid and Bishop by the name of Laud, he should avoid small and Shrewish French Princesses and he should always listen to people called Wentworth.
Oh yes! and he should commission a full size working replica of the Mary Rose, but without levying 'Ship Money'.
