Commissioned by Graham V Smith at No Excuses for the 1997 Powergen Calendar and shot in the lift outside Bob's studio in Battersea. Bryan Ferry was shot in the corner of a mirrored lift (specially installed for the shoot) to give a series of reflections trailing back to infinity. The image captures the essence of the calendar quotation (Life is for each man a solitary cell whose walls are mirrors), not only demonstrating the loneliness, but also reflecting on the strange way that our behaviour changes in the confines of a lift.
