Photographing Piper the year after his commission, with Patrick Reyntiens, to produce stained glass for the Baptistery Window of Coventry Cathedral, Snowdon paid tribute to the influence of English church architecture in Piper's art by depicting him at work in the churchyard of St Anne's, Limehouse.
