Formed in 1976, the feminist punk outfit The Slits featured fourteen-year-old German-born Arianna Foster on vocals. The group supported The Clash during their White Riot tour together with The Buzzcocks and the Subway Sect in 1977. Their first album was the dub-influenced Cut recorded at Farm Ridge Studios with Reggae producer Dennis Bovell. Their short career ended with their 1981 CBS release The Return of the Giant Slits.
