Stamp, made his Oscar nominated screen debut in Billy Budd (1962), and won Best Actor at Cannes for The Collector (1965). Starred opposite Julie Christie in Far from the Madding Crowd (1967). Seen here during his three year affair with Jean Shrimpton, in which time they became one of Britain's most celebrated couples. In 1969 Stamp began a five-year exile in India on a search for peace and happiness.
