Taken on the balcony above the Grand Entrance of Buckingham Palace, against a plain sheet pinned to the wall. This intimate portrait of the newly married royal couple was reproduced in newspapers and magazines around the world. The princess wore an ivory silk taffeta dress with a 25-foot train designed by the House of Emanuel. Her veil was held in place by the Spencer family diamond tiara. The wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales took place on 29 July 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral. Patrick Lichfield, a cousin of The Queen, was the official photographer.
