Kathleen was the daughter of a very special artist Kate Sperry. Kate Sperry learnt how to do portraits by an Italian artist and painted many premiers of New Zealand including the 13th Premier, Mr Stout who collected Kate's art and exhibited some in London. Kate Sperry also won Gold at Prix de Rome. Her Masterpiece being "Italian Goatherd" Kate was very good at skin colour and tones. One of Kates portraits is to be auction in Auckland, New Zealand on Tuesday 30th March.
