This is a reprise of the painting by Blake The 1962 Beatles (Pallant House, Chichester), based on a page of a magazine article on their return from Germany in 1962, poised for world fame. This is one of a series - T for the Beatles - from Alphabet - twenty-six screenprints in which Blake deploys images taken postcards, cigarette cards, anonymous snaps, icons - Elvis, Marilyn and James Dean - and his own imagery. The series was also issued as a pack of cards (1991).
