There is no evidence that this water-colour represents Richard Dighton, though it is in his style. Until more evidence comes to light its status must remain dubious. Another so-called self-portrait was sold at Sotheby's, 14-15 November 1932 (lot 323). No other portraits are recorded.

Healthy complexion, brown hair, and sandy whiskers. Dressed in a mauve and blue striped neck-tie, dark blue coat, grey trousers, and black shoes and top-hat. Brown foreground. Background left bare, except for some cross-hatching.
