Presented at the same time as a drawing of David Roberts (NPG 1371). They are identical with two drawings in the British Museum (see L. Binyon, Catalogue of Drawings by British Artists, III, 1902, 105). Although apparently signed by Meyer, they cannot be by him. The portrait of Gibson represents him as an old man, and cannot possibly be earlier than 1855. Meyer died in 1847, and had ceased to exhibit by 1831.
