NPG 2942 is a simplified copy of the untraced portrait by Benjamin Wilson, engraved by John Jones in 1788, showing a curtain in the left background and a bookcase on the right. It was also engraved on a smaller scale by James Heath (with a plain background; from the picture in the possession of the Shute Barrington, Bishop of Durham) and again by John Jones 1792 (without the bookcase, for Shakespeare Illustrated, 1793).
