In the Partridge sketch-book, this drawing precedes what is almost certainly a drawing by Westmacott after one of his statues. The features agree well with a later photograph of Westmacott, and the sculpting chisel he is holding seems conclusive. Besides Gibson, also drawn in the sketch-book (p 32), Westmacott was the only other young English sculptor of any note in Rome at this time.
