Hi I was just wondering if this self portrait was bought at an auction, from the collection of the Dowager Countess of Strafford, sold by Messrs Christie, Manson & Woods on the 30th November 1892. I found an old auction catalogue with the description of a Portrait of J Constable R.A.- framed, i was just wondering if this was the described self portrait above? It's just that I bought some portraits from auction in 2001. I've only this year realised who they are, one is of Maria Constable & one is of John Constable aged about 40, I'm trying to track their life, sort of a process of elimination, thanks for your help.
