Dear Madam,Sir I am a postdoctoral researcher based in Oxford, currently working on a chapter about photographer Julia Margaret Cameron in Ceylon (1875-79). I am genuinely intrigued by this carte-de-visite, allegedly printed and circulated by William Louis Henry Skeen (Ceylon Government Printer), in Colombo. It appears to me that the WLH Skeen logo is partly cropped by the portrait of JMC. For this reason, I believe that the photograph was perhaps added later, covering up an existing original. If you could tell me more about this, I would be enormously grateful. Information on JMC of this period is very limited. Many thanks - Dr Emilia Terracciano
