Known for his iconic photograph of Christine Keeler seated naked on an Arne Jacobsen chair (1963), Morley proffers a different type of intimacy in this double portrait, taken at the Hotel Marechal Ney, Montparnasse, Paris. He depicts himself gazing into his Rolleiflex camera to see the hotel room reflected back at him through the unseen mirror. Recalling this occasion, Pat Morley commented that the distant expression on her face was one of exhaustion rather than dreamy romance – the couple had spent the whole day sightseeing.
