Wenda Rogerson became Norman Parkinson's third wife when they married in 1947, the year this photograph was taken fro British Vogue as part of a Portfolio entitled 'The Iron Road'. This study of Wenda in a Aquascutum coat and sitting on a GWR (Great Western Railway) bench as the train arrives into a small provincial station. The concept for the fashion story was inspired by the film Brief Encounter (1945), directed by David Lean and starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard.

The small provincial station is Pontrilas, halfway between Hereford and Abergavenny. It closed in 1958.
