This image of a Neapolitan fisher-boy represents the British artist's fascination for scenes from everyday life in Italy. The backdrop of mountains and the expanse of water most likely locates the subject in the Bay of Naples. Signed 'RW' in the bottom left-hand corner, this watercolour drawing is possibly by the sculptor Richard Westmacott.
