Interesting to see the photos of Nelly Burton. My father born 1935 grew up on a farm between Canterbury and Hythe in Kent and told me about his neighbour who had been a Russian spy. He just knew her as Mrs Haddon Chambers and she used to give him stamps from various countries for his stamp collection. He also spoke about her always looking over her shoulder for fear of being followed as she had told my grandmother that her husband had been killed. I did some research and found that Her husband Sidney Reilly was the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s James Bond. Ian Fleming lived in the area.
