Francis Russell (1740-1795) was the son of John Russell (1697-1762) who was Town Clerk (Recorder) in Basingstoke, Hampshire. He and his wife, Anne nee Kirshaw made a handsome house at Goldings, London Road, Basingstoke. The house survives and is used by the Registrar. The house sits in parkland set out by Russell now War Memorial Park.
