Drawings of artists by Charles Hutton Lear, circa 1845

27 Portraits in set

For the most part the drawings are of prominent Royal Academicians, including Etty, Leslie, Maclise and Mulready and drawn surreptitiously in the RA schools. Many of the sitters were visitors to the life school. Lear had large private means and at this stage in his career drew mainly as a pastime.
