Vengalil Krishnan Krishna Menon
Menon arrived in England in 1924 to attend the London School of Economics. He took his B.Sc. with first class honours in 1927, followed by a M.Sc. in political science and then an MA in psychology from University College London in 1930. He was called to the bar at Middle Temple in 1934. He settled in London, and although in 1935 he and Sir Allen Lane started Penguin Books, his energies were devoted to supporting Indian nationalism. Between 1947 and 1952 he became the first high commissioner for independent India in London. In 1956 he returned to India to serve in Nehru's government.
