Group Leaders' Training
Professional Development Workshops
The National Portrait Gallery offers many opportunities for professional development and training onsite and offsite. The Gallery’s workshops are designed for staff, volunteers, coordinators, and managers of community organisations. These programmes introduce audiences to modern and contemporary art in the Gallery’s Collection and link the exploration of the arts to various disciplines via practical activities and interactive tours.
Thematic Programmes
Thematic programmes allow in-depth discussion of various works, artists and media within a theme, such as ‘What’s in a Portrait?’ or ‘3D Objects’. The thematic approach exposes participants to key methods, materials, ideas, and concepts related to modern and contemporary art.
Focus on the Medium
Explore a particular medium (e.g. drawing, painting, photography or sculpture) in the Gallery’s Collection. You might choose to discuss works in the Gallery’s Primary, Photograph or Archive Collections.
