Key Stage 1 - History

Reception to Year 2
Our History sessions for KS1 classes range from lively discussions and story telling followed by drawing, to observation leading to role play and practical artwork. Discussing how portraits tell us about the past is a focus of all sessions. We also provide free CPD for teachers.
All materials are provided free. These sessions can be booked whenever the necessary rooms and staff are available.
Children and Families
By looking at family portraits from the seventeenth century, pupils discuss how the lives of children in the past differed from their own. Pupils select one child from a portrait to draw. For Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children, we focus on one picture and include dressing-up and posing activities.
