All workshops run on a Thursday evening and last for an hour and a half from 16.30 - 18.00
Join the National Portrait Gallery's After School Art Club for a valuable opportunity to regularly build up skills and knowledge, and meet peers who are also interested in art. Working with an experienced educator/artist, students are given the opportunity to develop sketchbook/work journal study through a range of themed sessions, responding to the Gallery's Collection for inspiration and ideas.
Students are also encouraged to respond with visual analysis as well as critical vocabulary expressing independent judgements, in the form of annotated evidence.

An intensive week-long Summer School where students attend five in-depth sessions generating a sketchbook/work journal exploring portraiture in the Gallery. Students observe a variety of styles and techniques to develop a visual diary/scrapbook, experiment with a wide range of media, and explore image and identity (their own and others) using a series of themes to direct an individual line of enquiry.
A wide variety of guest teachers or artists facilitate the sessions to maintain the students individual practice and learning to an elevated and challenging level.
