EXTENDED LEARNING FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS

Unique free out-of-school sessions to support art-based learning around portraiture for school-attending students, increasing understanding of the importance of building on fine art skills and enhance critical thinking


Masterclasses
Suitable for 14+

An Intensive weekend-long Masterclass where students will work with a professional artists in the gallery and workshop spaces to build on portfolio and coursework development; learn new and enhance existing fine art skills through portraiture including life drawing and painting.

ALL 11.00 - 16.00 with a break for lunch (not provided).

Maximum of 20 students per group. Students will be permitted to register for two courses maximum per year. Candidates must have a genuine interest and commitment to art and be able to maintain a high level of concentration in order to apply themselves to the intensive two days of creative study

EXTENDED LEARNING FOR HOME EDUCATED YOUNG PEOPLE

Young Artists' Sessions: Art sessions for home educated young people

This new course will enable the home-educated young people to experience some more intensive practical workshop activities as well as drawing sessions within the gallery spaces tailored just for their interests and involve the interaction with a wider variety of resources, artists and facilitators.

All run from 11.00- 16.00 and require a maximum of 15 students per group.

November 2011 Wed 16, 14.00 – 16.00

A free Inset session exclusively for parents/guardians of Home Educated young people and Network/Group coordinators, giving insights into the Gallery, our programmes and exhibitions.

Working with Gallery staff, this session includes Collection and exhibition tours, and introductions to the Gallery's Audio guide and the Portrait Explorer in the IT Gallery. The sessions, introduce ways to use the Gallery and our portraits during self-directed visits. Each session has 20 spaces available and includes resources and refreshments.
