This unique workshop gives students the opportunity to draw inspiration from Glamour of the Gods and First Actresses, before experimenting with paper to create imaginative costume samples.

Pattern, Colour & Textiles

Working with tutors from the Royal School of Needlework, students draw inspiration and respond to examples of colour, pattern and textiles in the gallery’s permanent collection.


Chasing Mirrors - Portraits of the Unseen – Artist Workshop

Exclusive practical art workshop in the education studio with artist Athier Mousawi  who will discuss his involvement with Chasing Mirrors - Portraits of the Unseen and the Chasing Mirrors Collective through community project work, and then work with students to explore alternative ways of creating self-portraits through symbolism and metaphor. Why not complement this visit by attending the Chasing Mirrors Study Day from running 10.00 - 13.45 on the same day?

Exploring the Gallery's extensive collection of sculpture, from traditional busts to the more contemporary abstract works, students use sketching to observe and collect inspiration for a rich session of studio practice involving a range of construction materials.
