Special Screening: The Man Who Knew Too Much
Dir. Alfred Hitchcock,1934 (75 mins)
In an evening celebrating the British cinema of Alfred Hitchcock,
film historian Sandra Shevey introduces a screening of his 1934
film classic, The Man Who Knew Too Much. Following the
screening Sandra Shevey will play excerpts from a rare and unpublished
audio interview with the director, which she did in Hollywood
in 1972. In the interview Hitchcock talks about Location, technique
and the lurid London subtext, which characterises many of his
films.

Seventeenth-Century Portraits of the Princes of Orange
Professor Lisa Jardine CBE, Centenary Professor of Renaissance
Studies at Queen Mary, University of London, explores the inventive
use of orange (the colour and the fruit) in portraits of the
Dutch Stadholders, whose nobility depended upon their tenuous
connection to the French principality of Orange.
