Taking place over one-day (2 August) or two-evenings (31 July - 1 August), this practical photography workshop led by Elizabeth Doak will include working with large format studio and digital cameras, using studio lighting and learning about basic portraiture composition, with reference to the Gallery's Collection. No previous experience necessary and all materials are provided.

Inspired by the exhibition Wyndham Lewis: Portraits, work from your own photograph of a person to produce an angular drawing concentrating on line, shading, diagonals and curves. Leading on to creating a stylised painted portrait, this drawing and painting workshop is led by artist Sadie Lee.

Beyond the famous piazza and the beautiful church of St Paul's - celebrated as the 'actors' church - and the Theatre Royal and Royal Opera House, the side streets and alleys of Covent Garden are rich in history. The day begins with a lecture and Gallery tour examining the extraordinary range of historical figures associated with Covent Garden, including Nell Gwyn, James Boswell, Samuel Johnson and Inigo Jones, and is followed by a 90-minute walking tour led by historian and Blue Badge Guide Jane Brand.

Tickets: £15/£10 concessions and Gallery Supporters
