In the City is the largest British
photographic portrait project of recent years. Edward Barber
is one of the few contemporary photographers who shoots portraits
on location with a large format view camera. He has used the
formality of this medium to explore London's Square Mile and
sitters range from dispatch riders and cleaners to City figures
such as Sir John Browne, Dame Sheila Masters and Sir Eddie George.
As the writer Jonathan Glancey says: "Ed Barber's luminous
portraits reveal the City is not just for suits. It's an intensely
complex organism."
