Sarah Siddons (1755-1831), published 1799

Both members of the famous Kemble theatrical family, John and his sister Sarah achieved huge success on the stage. Sarah married William Siddons in 1773.

John Philip Kemble appears as 'Rolla' and Sarah Siddons as 'Elvira' in Pizarro, a tragedy adapted by Richard Brinsley Sheridan after a work by the German dramatist Kotzebue. William Pitt declared Kemble in the role of 'Rolla' as 'the noblest Actor he had ever seen.'
