'Descriptions of Battles by Sea & Land, in Two Volumes, from the King's Library's at Greenwich & Chelsea', published 1801

Two pensioners - a sailor and a soldier - sit and exchange tales of battles.

The Royal Hospital, Chelsea, was founded by Charles II in 1682 to make provision for invalid soldiers and veterans. The Royal Naval Hospital, Greenwich, was initiated in 1692 by Queen Mary to follow suit, attending the needs of navy personnel. Both buildings were designed by Sir Christopher Wren.
