Robert Dighton 1751-1814

NPG D10723
George III (1738-1820), published 1810

The jubilee of George III was celebrated throughout the country with processions, banquets and specially commissioned buildings. It marked the height of George III's popularity.

Numerous commemorative prints were issued of which this is one; astutely published by Robert Dighton on the very day of the jubilee.

Dighton drew this portrait at Windsor, where George III could often be seen strolling along the Terrace.
