1807
Rebecca Wildgoose, an ex-procuress, became blind and married
a William Howse who then led her around Oxford selling flowers.
She was a well known character, affectionately called 'Flora'
by the students.
Earlier in the same year she
was depicted in a very similar etching after a drawing by James
Gillray, published by H. Humphrey.
