Robert Dighton 1751-1814

'A View from Trinity College Cambridge', William Lort Mansel (1753-1820), published 1810

Mansel became Master of Trinity College, Cambridge in 1798 and was appointed Bishop of Bristol in 1808.

He was a great wit and mimic of academic society; his epigrams and verses achieving great renown.

This is one of the more imposing examples of Robert Dighton's numerous depictions of Cambridge and Oxford academics.
