	Family Events Free Weekend & Holiday Events for Children and Families All events are free, except where indicated. Some require a ticket, which can be obtained from the Information Desk in the Main Hall of the Gallery, one hour before the event starts. Please note workshop places are limited and are allocated on a first-come, first served basis. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

For details on individual events, see the calendar below	Family Art Workshops on the third Saturday of the month 11.30 and 14.30 Family sessions exploring portraits in the collections, followed by an art activity. Suitable for children aged 5+ and their carers. Free ticket required and available one hour before the event starts from the Information Desk in the Main Hall. May	Saturday 17 May 11.30 and 14.30 HIDE & SEEK After seeking out the stories of the people in our collection who have been hidden or disguised, families will work together to make a pop-up & reveal artwork. Suitable for ages 5+. Tickets required and available one hour before the event from the Information Desk in the Main Hall. These sessions will last approximately 90 minutes. Important Information Please note that due to the popularity of the workshops places are now allocated on a first-come, first-served basis one hour before the event. May	Monday 26 May 11.30, 14.30 YOU'RE BRILLIANT! Inspired by your Mum, Granny, sister, aunty or best friend. Make a portrait of your favourite 'brilliant' girl or woman. Free tickets are required and available one hour before the event from the Information Desk in the Main Hall. These sessions will last approximately 90 minutes.

May	Tuesday 27 May 11:30, 14:30 SURREAL PORTRAITS Families will look at the lives and work of Surrealist artists Lee Miller & Leonora Carrington, then create a Surrealist Portrait using objects, animals and food. Free tickets are required and available one hour before the event from the Information Desk in the Main Hall. These sessions will last approximately 90 minutes.

May	Wednesday 28 May 11:30, 14:30 SILHOUETTE PORTRAITS Dress up and make a Victorian silhouette profile portrait. Free tickets are required and available one hour before the event from the Information Desk in the Main Hall. These sessions will last approximately 90 minutes.

May	Thursday 29 May 11:30, 14:30 STAND UP BE PROUD Take Brilliant Women as your inspiration & Design and make your own personal journal. Free tickets are required and available one hour before the event from the Information Desk in the Main Hall. These sessions will last approximately 90 minutes.

May	Friday 30 May 11:30, 14:30 MINI CITY Inspired by architect Zaha Hadid create a new space - a cityscape in a tin can, empty bottle, or a coffee cup?! Free tickets are required and available one hour before the event from the Information Desk in the Main Hall. These sessions will last approximately 90 minutes.

June
June	Saturday 21 June 11:30, 14:30 HALF MASKS Inspired by wigs, fashion and accessories in the National Portrait Gallery's collection, families will make their own half-mask to transform themselves into a new character.
