BBC Great Britons
Great Britons The great debate
Great Britons is a major new series for BBC TWO this autumn,
following on from last year's unprecedented public search for
the greatest Briton of all time. The series will reveal the top
ten nominations, in 10 one hour programmes, each dedicated to
one of the following: Brunel; Churchill; Cromwell; Darwin; Diana;
Elizabeth I; Lennon; Nelson; Newton; Shakespeare.
Each programme is fronted by a high-profile presenter, arguing
passionately about why their chosen Briton is the greatest. These
will run on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9pm from 22nd October.
During the series, viewers will be invited to vote for whom they
regard as the greatest ever Briton by:
- Visiting the Great Britons website
www.bbc.co.uk/greatbritons
- Telephoning 090 11 22 1066 (calls
will cost 25p)
- Online at a local library
- Ballot boxes at the National
Portrait Gallery
The series culminates in a live
studio show in November, when the greatest Briton, as voted by
the general public, will be announced.
