An exhibition of the work of
the American photographer, best known for his portraits for Life
Magazine from the 1940s through to the 1970s. Halsman photographed
the most prominent figures of the post-war years, including artists,
intellectuals, authors and film stars. Subjects include Dalí,
Einstein, Nabokov, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. A special
section of the show is devoted to his famous 'jump' pictures.
Exhibition organised by the National
Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.
A fully illustrated book accompanies
the exhibition, priced £25 exclusively in the Gallery's
shops.
