The National Portrait Gallery houses a unique collection of all forms of portraiture of the people who have made or who are currently contributing to British history and culture. With more than 1.5 million visitors each year, the Gallery is one of the country's most important and popular galleries.

Adult Programmes Manager
Circa £30,000 pro rata, per annum
Part time (four days per week)

Working within the Learning Department you will research, manage and coordinate an exciting and innovative programme of events for a wide range of adult audiences and learners. Relevant previous experience is essential.

Prints Cataloguer
£19,111 per annum
Fixed term for 12 months

You will be part of a small team responsible for print cataloguing and preparing for digitisation mainly 18th and 19th century prints. You will have a degree in a subject relevant to the Gallery's collection. An interest in portraiture and some experience and knowledge of working with print collections is desirable.

Curatorial Internship for Post Graduates
18th/19th Century
6 months (1 day per week)

The National Portrait Gallery is seeking to appoint an Intern in its Curatorial department in order to provide collections related assistance. The posts will involve working directly with a curator and require a demonstrable interest in the chosen period or subject area.

Functions Assistants
Casual appointments
£8.07 per hour (equivalent to £16,800 p.a.)

To assist in preparing the Gallery spaces for events and functions, this will involve moving furniture and equipment around the Gallery. To provide a pro-active, friendly and professional welcome to visitors, guests and contractors before, during and after events. To maintain the security of the buildings and its collections.

We are looking for volunteers who are interested in helping with the following activities one day a week on one of the days specified below:

Dry-mounting and mount filing portrait images (Monday, Tuesday, Friday)

Portrait indexing and filing (Thursday, Friday)
