Reproducing images from our
collection
You need permission to reproduce our images.
Here's how to apply for a licence (it's easy):
- Tell us which pictures you would
like to use (please provide the NPG registry number - if you
are not sure, please use the search facility at www.npg.org.uk/live/search/).
- Tell us about your project (is
it a book/magazine/video/TV programme...?).
- Tell us how widely it will be
distributed (USA only/EC only/Worldwide...).
- Tell us which languages it will
be translated into.
- Tell us how many (copies/transmissions)
you need to clear rights for.
- Describe exactly how you would
like to use each picture (100 x 80mm b/w wine label; 1/4-, 1/2-page
inside colour book illustration; title sequence of feature film,
full screen, 12 seconds; etc)
Why not send your application
now, by e-mail to picturelibrary@npg.org.uk
- don't forget to let us know about your deadline and tell us
your street address!
- We will then reply and let you
know how much it is going to cost.
- If you confirm you order in
writing and return it to us with full payment, we will fulfil
your order as quickly as possible and supply the images with
a licence to use them in your project.
- The specific terms of the licence
are set out in the invoice (you'll need to get further permission
if you want to use the images in any other way) while the general
terms are spelt out carefully in our terms & conditions.
- Once you have returned any hired
transparencies safely, we may raise a final invoice to cover
any outstanding hire fees. As soon as the fees have been paid,
the job is complete!
If you would like more information
or would prefer to fill in a more detailed application form,
please contact us at picturelibrary@npg.org.uk.
