Selected Letters Letter from Matthew Arnold to G.F. Watts, dated 25 April 1881, concerning a visit to the artist's studio.

Athenaeum Club
Pall Mall
April 25th.

My dear Mr. Watts
It is very kind of you to have remembered about the ticket, and now my two girls will go with their mother. Mrs Arnold, and the one girl who did see it in your studio, were delighted with the portrait. I shall see it before or after the dinner on Saturday, but I think it will be
after, as I have to make a speech, and shall be fit for nothing

until I have got it over. If I do not see you at the dinner, I hope to come and call upon you the week following. I wish I knew the day and hour when a visit least bores you.

Ever sincerely yours,
Matthew Arnold.
