Letter
from William Ewart Gladstone to G.F. Watts, dated 15 June 1878,
arranging a sitting with the artist.
Dear Mr Watts
I returned to town to find myself overwhelmed with engagements
and arrears and I am sorry to say I have no hopes of being able
to make an engagement to come to you between this time and the
22d. I do not know whether you could make anything of visiting
me here.
In that case, it would be
manageable. If not I am afraid the matter must stand over till
the pictures may return into your hands.
Please to let me have my Doctor's
gown when you conveniently can. Sincerely yours
WE Gladstone
