an arctic whale fisher sailing from Peterhead. Was born 15th Sept. 1830. When Captain Penny sailed in search of Sir John Franklin with the ships 'Lady Franklin' & 'Sophia' my brother was appointed to the command of the latter vessel. This was in the years 1850, 1851. On his return, he entered the merchant service, going first to Australia, & latterly to China. |
