Selected Letters Letter from James Martineau to G.F. Watts, dated 11 September 1887, renewing his acquaintance with the artist.

The Pulchar,
Ruthiemurchus,
Aviemore.
Sepr. 11. 1887.

Dear Mr Watts,
Nothing can be more grateful to me than your friendly words, or more welcome than their offer of an opportunity of renewed and nearer acquaintance. Of this privilege I shall still hope to avail myself, though my residence in this Highland retreat till November will, I fear, postpone the happy chance till after your and Mrs Watts's

return to England. If I can gain tidings of your being again at home after the winter, I will make free to call at Little Holland House.

I remain,
Yours very truly,
James Martineau.
