Sept. 28. 1872.
Little Holland House.
Dear Sir,
I beg to offer full apologies
for my apparent neglect in not replying to your letter. My delay
at first arose from being unable to answer your questions, and
has been caused latterly by my being very unwell. This reason
will prevent me from taking advantage of your proposal to sit
during the month of October as I must get some change of air
as soon as possible and have got work to do before I can get
away.
I will place my time and experience
at the disposal of yourself and Lady Dilke when I come back to
town if you should still wish to be painted.
With renewed apologies,
I am,
Very truly yours,
G.F. WATTS.
