Letter from Augustus John to Evan Charteris, dated 14 May 1929, giving his opinion of Arthur Roberts.
 Letter

Fryern Court
Fordingbridge
Salisbury

May 14 1929

My dear Charteris,

In answer to your request for my opinion of Arthur Roberts; I consider him about the most important buffoon England has ever produced - a born comedian & a most accomplished artist. Even when I knew him in his old age he was incredibly entertaining.

I think any old student of our stage would agree.
