this year, in my opinion, but more especially, "the Banditti Chief asleep", contain in a high degree of excellence, some of the most valuable features of the art, calculated at the same time to gratify the technical relish of the Artist as well as to affect the more general observer.

As I had conceived my own favourable opinion of your Brother's works without knowing the name of the Artist I desired Wilkie's unbiased judgement under the same circumstances, and I am much gratified in being able to tell you, as he allows me to do, that he has the highest
