Letter from Lady Baden-Powell to C.K. Adams, dated 13 April 1959, giving her opinion of the portrait.
 Letter

Hampton Court Palace
East Molesey
Surrey

April 13th 1959

Dear Mr Adams,

I have received the photograph and am returning it to you here with with very many thanks.

I am fairly certain that this drawing was not done from life, but at the same time it certainly a most excellent portrait of my husband, and one which gives me personally great pleasure. If you want a picture which is really like the man I would certainly suggest that you acquire this if you are satisfied with its technique. To me it is a speaking likeness; and if you have at any time a spare copy of the photograph of it I would be most grateful if I could have one.

In fact as it is to me such a very pleasing portrait I would be glad to know where I could buy three or four copies, as this is an entirely NEW picture that I have myself never seen before.

Yours very sincerely,
Olave Baden-Powell

P.S. I have just seen Mrs Wade, who was my husband's Private Secretary from 1914 onwards for 27 years, and she also has NO recollection of his ever having "sat" for Mr Chirley Slocomb
Does that MATTER though very much, if the picture is good!
