Your arrangements about the statue of Lane are most considerate
& admirable.
Richard James Lane was the elder brother of the Orientalist &
the statue is entirely his work. It is not his only effort in
sculpture, though I think it is his best. The others were chiefly
busts of his own children. Chantrey was very much impressed with
Lane's work, & told him
