Letter from Julia Margaret Cameron to Sir John Herschel, dated 31 December 1864, discussing her aspirations as a photographer.
 Letter

Fresh Water Bay, Isle of Wight
Dec 31st 64-

My Dear Sir John Herschel

Much I should like to hear that your cough & your bronchitis are not worse during this winter weather

I know that letter writing sometimes is the destruction of peace & repose when one's little scrap of pleasure in leisure is thus snatched - and therefore I in no wise beg for accounts of you in order to induce you to write to me again - you have been too good already - Your time, & Lady Herschels is fully used up I well know each day -
but one of your dear girls will indulge me with a real report
